Villa Miralfiore, a Renaissance jewel in the heart of Pesaro, stands out for its unique architecture and historical-artistic value. Located within a vast city park, it offers a green oasis and a fascinating immersion in culture. The villa houses the Glass Museum, a museum dedicated to the collaborations between Vittorio Livi and great contemporary artists, as well as a design exhibition with works by world-famous designers. The internal loggia, framed by granite columns, overlooks an elegant Italian-style garden, a refined example of late Renaissance ars topiary.
The history of the Villa
1260
Original construction of Villa Miralfiore as a rural home for the Malatesta family.
1559
Acquisition of the villa by Guidobaldo II della Rovere, who began a major renovation and extension phase, entrusting the work to architects Bartolomeo Genga and Filippo Terzi.
1573
Completion of the interior frescoes by Federico and Taddeo Zuccari and Antenore Ridolfi, decorating the rooms on the first floor with themes related to the Della Rovere family's exploits .
1626
Production of a detailed drawing of the gardens by Francesco Mingucci, showing the 'fountain garden' and the structure of the Italian gardens.
1777
Grant of the villa in emphyteusis
to the Albani family.
1861
Demolition of one of the arches of the driveways, marking a significant change in the layout of the park.
1914
Ministerial Decree establishing Villa Miralfiore as a monument of national importance.
1992
Acquisition of the villa by entrepreneur Vittorio Livi, who promoted a conservative restoration of the building, gardens and frescoes.
2024
The restoration of the historic gardens of Villa Miralfiore funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), Measure 1, Component 3, Investment 2.3. This project aims at preserving and enhancing the historical and landscape heritage of the villa by improving the accessibility and infrastructure of the site.
