Aleppo Pine
Pinus Halepensis
In the Malatesta garden of Villa Miralfiore stands the Pinus halepensis, or Aleppo Pine, an iconic evergreen tree of the Mediterranean that can grow up to 25 meters tall. With its irregular, often leaning canopy, it has a picturesque appearance. The specimen in the garden was stabilized during maintenance with the patented COBRA® system.
The oval-conical strobili are 5-10 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. They are green when young and turn brown after two years. Inside, they contain seeds that are 5-6 mm long, each with a wing measuring 20 mm.
The leaves are needle-like, 5-10 cm long, very thin and soft,ngathered in clusters of two, and are light green in color.
